Blow Up Reprise 1, 2019
Lambda Print 40 x 60 cm
“Blow Up Reprise 1” is a photographic work that references Antonioni’s 1966 film “Blow Up”. When I first saw the film in the late 1970s, it made a profound impression on me and certainly encouraged me to turn to photography and photographic art.
The photo series is set at the film’s original location, Maryon Park in London. The shifting in the film from day to night, real to unreal, banal to eerie, is interpreted in my photo series through a young woman’s somnambulistic pacing through the park, with her eyes closed.
